Whether you are planning a getaway with family, friends or both, there is nothing worse than canceling your plans due to the typical British weather. All of our Boutique lodges have WIFI and Smart TV’s giving you everything you need for a cosy cinema night with Netflix or Disney+. Or… why not try putting your phones and gadgets away and enjoying the rainy day with board games. The hours will fly by and you are guaranteed to have lots of laughs.
Here are our favourite board games. And just in case, there’s one for every day of the week:
1. Pictionary
Not an artist? No worries. This game is actually more fun if you can’t draw. Get ready for loads of laughter when your team can’t decipher if what you’re drawing is a banana or an airplane! You can create your own game set with a white board and some fun words to draw written on small pieces of paper, or you can buy the actual Pictionary game
2. Charades
You can never go wrong with a classic game like charades. Simply split into teams and then have one person from each team act out a movie, book, or TV show to see who can guess the answer. This is a great game for introverts who want to be less shy.
3. Card Games
A game does not need to be complex to be fun. There are several fun and cheap card games for all the family to enjoy, such as classic card games, Uno or even snap. Check out the link below for some card game inspiration: https://www.todaysparent.com/family/activities/10-kid-friendly-card-games/
4. Puzzles
An alternative to playing a game is to do a puzzle. This will give you a good opportunity to talk and catch up with family and friends instead of only discussing what is going on in the game. Why not try a traditional jig-saw or take your building blocks for a game of Jenga.
5. Scrabble
If murder mystery dramas have you glued to the TV or you’ve hosted more than your fair share of murder mystery dinner parties, then this is the game for you.
It’s a game of deduction and bluff. Can you decipher which of the characters (one of your opponents) carried out the deadly deed, which room of the mansion they did it in and using which weapon.
6. Monopoly
One of the most iconic board games of all time, Monopoly has been played for decades. Adults will appreciate the nostalgia of the classic game, while kids will love versions based on beloved Disney film series like Frozen and The Lion King.
7. One for the adults – Cards Against Humanity
Cards Against Humanity is a party game for horrible people. Unlike most of the party games you’ve played before, Cards Against Humanity is as despicable and awkward as you and your friends. It is sure to have you all its fits of laughter.
We really hope you don’t need a board game for every day of your cottage holiday, but we do hope there’s a game or two for you to choose from if the storm clouds blow in.
